I have migrated to New Zealand from Jamaica. As a chef, I wanted to upskill myself and AHCTS was my first choice when I decided to go back to school. I heard good things about them and they lived up to it. My tutor was awesome! He has the passion to teach and share his wealth of knowledge on to us. I have learned a lot both in their world class kitchen facility and in the lectures. It was almost 4 years ago when I walked into AHCTS. Feeling confused as I've just been rejected from other chef school, no reason was given. I was greeted by the recruitment manager. I told him the whole story why I was here, told him I would be grateful if I can learn to cook professionally. We did all the usual application process, a couple of days later I was told I got a place for next year intake. Then, school start, the first thing I notice was all the tutors here were hardworking chef, most of them start from ground up to where they are now. They weren't the type of celebrity chef. They genuinely love food. You can see on some of them, they have the typical physical pain acquired only from being a real chef for years. To me, that signals I was on the hands of veterans. One of the most important thing I learnt from AHCTS wasn't just cooking skill or recipe. They taught you to WORK HARD. Cooking skills can be developed over the time, but HARD WORK must come from within. Typical things that you'll get from a veteran soldier at a training camp. Fast forward, a few years later. Their advice is still with me, I worked really hard, had 2 jobs for a few years, worked day & night, didn't complain of any task I had to do. Now I have a rewarding job, trusted to hold a position of a sous chef and loving my job every day. It possible because they allowed me to study with them and what I have to do is WORK HARD 🙂 Thank you AHCTS

My time at AHCTS was amazing as I took a National Certificate Level 4 in Professional Cookery. I learned a lot of essential cooking skills that until today, I am applying in the professional kitchen now that I am working. AHCTS is definitely the go-to school in Auckland for those who are seeking to learn fundamental cooking skills and are aspiring to be chefs or just looking to hone their skills!
My chef tutor for Level 4, Alex Swan is friendly and approachable and makes sure we are learning well in his class.
AHCTS has also been very helpful in looking for a job and David tirelessly encouraged me to go get it! I highly recommend AHCTS to any aspiring chef!

During my study at AHCTS I learned a lot of skills and techniques in cooking as well as learning a lot in my theory class. Although I got plenty of pressure it was fun at the end of the day and also please with my self that I had accomplished everything. Chef Tutor Craig really helped us to achieve in Level 5 Cookery and took us to a Level of food I am proud of. Chef Tutor Craig has taught us to be passionate about cooking and it has given me a great attitude to work in this industry. I did not compare AHCTS to other schools but I am very lucky that I did choose this school. The staff here care about us, our study, our lives and where we work. I have improved my knife skills and cooking skills that has helped me a lot and the food that I have learnt is amazing. In Level 4 Cookery we learnt a good basic structure of cookery, then in Level 5 was more challenging with the food that we cooked and I felt so good when people saw the food that we did. I really learnt how to plate food, combine ingredients so they work. I enjoyed my courses at AHCTS and will never forget the time I spent here.

As an international student from Tonga, I was happy and lucky to join AHCTS, first of all the staff were very friendly and they know a lot about the hospitality industry. Second I was lucky to have an awesome tutor like Sam Fraser-List. He is happy and has a fun time in the kitchen, he is always willing to help me out when I need help and that’s the thing I miss about Sam. He helped me find my full time job at Jack Tar on the North Wharf and for that I am really grateful. During my time at school I always tried to do my best no matter what so I know that’s the best I can do. I would like to thank all of the AHCTS staff for helping me while I was a student at AHCTS and I love you all.
