Norka’s career began in 1997 in Santiago,Chile.  Norka’s culinary studies began at INACAP (University of Technology, Chile) including a 6 month hotel apprenticeship. Once attaining her qualifications, Norka gained experience in various 5 star hotels in Chile before eventually immigrating to New Zealand in 2003

Norka worked for 4 years as a Head Chef at a Catering Company in Auckland, and then studied English full-time, whilst working in several Auckland kitchens. Norka enjoys the diversity of cultures in New Zealand, especially their food, “Food is my greatest passion, I come from a country where family; food and celebration are one and the same”.

Norka joined the Auckland Hotel & Chefs Training School in September 2009 as a Chef Tutor and is responsible for presenting the level three cookery units.  Norka’s qualifications include NZQA Level 5 in Cookery and an Assessors Certificate (4098), Level 5 Certificate in English (UNITECH). Currently, Norka is completing a Diploma in Adult Learning and Teaching at AUT.
