National Certificate in Hospitality Cookery Level 2 - TEC Youth Student

A 24 week full time course developed for 16 – 17 year olds with an interest in hospitality. An industry training module is incorporated to provide students with real work experience. This qualification provides an entry into the professional chef
arena and is focused on providing employable skills.

CONTENT & QUALIFICATIONS

Upon successful completion of this course an NZQA National Certificate in Cookery, Level 2 will be awarded. Subjects covered include:

  • Practical Cookery from knife skills to dish preparation.
  • Safe Food Hygiene
  • Barista Training & Beverage
  • Personal Development
  • Industry placed training
  • Chefs uniform & knife set provided for course duration
  • Food Hygiene
  • Food and Beverage units

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • 16 – 17 years of age
  • NCEA levels capped – call for more information

FEES
No course fees, funded by TEC New Zealand

DATES/TIMES/DURATION
Monday to Friday for 27 weeks
Courses start every month – call for dates and availability

CAREER PATHWAYS
Provides the student valuable experience to gain meaningful entry into all levels of hospitality and it is a stepping stone for a NZQA Level 3 qualification.
